Yr 10 FILM MAKING

PREP Write about the film making that you have done over the last two weeks. Add photos to support and illustrate your post.

Paragraph 1: Your production company logo

Write about how you made it, explaining the process and referring to the equipment - the Hue camera, the Mac,  the name of your Production Company, the sound effects.

firstly we had to choose a name, we decided to choose sakura studios as we thought it fit our theme and since we liked the name. we set up a hue camera and placed the camera so the angle was facing down to show the background picture and words. we used a fan closing to slowly reveal the words 'sakura studios'. we slowly closed the fan making sure to take pictures every movement and then we browsed through the many sound effects until we found one that fit. next we moved it onto iMovie, once we moved it we then added transitions between the production company logo and our opening scenes to make the transition smoother

Paragraph 2: Your table top filming

Write about the filming. Explain some of the items that you had on the table and how you handled the camera. Explain what you wanted the audience to focus on (if you paused to make them look at anything in particular).

next we had to film our opening scene, we chose a Japanese and jewellery theme since we liked the colours. we chose three necklaces, a ring,  a picture of a baby, a paper rose, a Japanese umbrella, lanterns, a jewellery box which we open up to reveal the ring and old pieces of paper. we chose kaya to do the filming as she had the most steady hands and we chose India's phone to do it on since it had the best quality. we wanted the audience to focus on the jewellery being snatched away quickly and the picture of the baby as it lines up the the line baby in the song. another thing we wanted the audience to focus on is the 4 queens from a card pack since it is showing a more feminine side to the filming and maybe implies the story is based around the main character being a woman.

Paragraph 3: Your 'live action' filming

Explain what you filmed here and how you wanted the film opening to develop in this bit.

we chose to do our filming behind the mansion as there was a staircase and a field to show. in these scene we started off by having the killer walk up the stairs in slow motion to create tension. we then showed the victim running away from the killer who had the gun pointed at the victim. we decided to cut straight to the murder to not show any violence and create suspense since we don't know what has happened. as the victim dies we show the hand falling in slow mo for dramatic affect and we see the killer grab the necklace from her hand and walk off in slow mo. we dressed the killer in a black hat covering the face and a long black cover to create suspense since we don't know who the killer is. we wanted the film opening to be dramatic and not reveal to much so it would make you want to watch the movie to find out what happens.

Paragraph 4: Editing

  • What sound effects did you add to the Production Company logo?
  • What track did you put down under the rest of the film?
  • What was your FILM TITLE?
  • What credits did you add (like actor names)?
I don't remember which sound I used for the production company logo. for the opening scenes of the film we used the song 'put your head on my shoulder' we used this sound since we liked the tune and thought it went well with the plot of our movie, we also liked it since it changes beat as it comes up to the 'live action' filming to create more suspense. our film title is 'femme fatale' which means fatal woman in English. we used the 4 queens from a pack of card in our opening scene to relate to this to show a feminist side to our movie and to imply our main character is a women. we added credits of the director who was ava, and then the rest were actors which were India, Kaya and I.
Paragraph 5: Your views

How did you think that your production went? Were there any challenges, disasters or triumphs?

I think the production went well in the end. there was a few challenges for example our iMovie kept glitching and ruining the video however we fixed that when we imported it. another challenge was we didn't include enough scenes the first time we filmed so we had to add more another day but the lighting and ground had changed however we overcame that by editing our old scenes to the lighting being brighter so it matched our old ones. a triumph was the editing between the death scene to the falling hand scene since the transition between them was very clean. Another triumph was when we made the sound saying baby in the song to match up to when we showed the photo of a baby.
